Accessibility statement for careers.nelft.nhs.uk

This accessibility statement applies to North East London NHS Foundation Trust’s recruitment website.

We have taken steps to comply with WCAG 2.1 AA

This recruitment website was designed and developed by Just R and is run by North East London NHS Foundation Trust. We want as many people as possible to be able to use this website.

This means that you should be able to:

  • Change colours, contrast levels and fonts with the assistance of the accessibility tool plugin
  • zoom in up to 300% without the text spilling off the screen
  • Navigate most of the website using just a keyboard
  • Navigate most of the website using speech recognition software
  • Listen to most of the website using a screen reader (including the most recent versions of JAWS, NVDA and VoiceOver)

We’ve also made the website text as simple as possible to understand.

AbilityNet has advice on making your device easier to use if you have a disability.

How accessible this website is

We know some parts of this website are not fully accessible:

  • In places, decorative elements have been used – these have been stated as decorative elements.
  • There are minimal cases of text in imagery to enhance the aesthetic of the website. In such cases, alternative text has been applied as well as additional coding to ensure it is accessible to users using screen-reading software.
  • Certain text elements will be affected when page is zoomed over 300%.
  • you cannot modify the line height or spacing of text.

NELFT is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

The website has been tested against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 AA standard.

This website is fully compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 AA standard.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Videos

To the best of our abilities, we have added subtitles to all our videos with the options of closed captions (CC), however, videos from third parties are out of our control and could mean that subtitles are not included. When we publish new content we’ll make sure our use of videos meets accessibility standards.

We will continue to develop the website to meet WCAG 2.1 AAA, which will require the following developments:

  • Not large enough controls. This fails WCAG 2.1 AAA 2.5.5 Target Size. We plan to make these link controls large enough by October 2024.
  • High text contrast. This fails WCAG 2.0 AAA 1.4.6. We plan to achieve the desired contrast ratio by October 2024.
  • Explaining opening tabs. This fails WCAG 2.0 AAA 3.2.5. We plan to achieve this feature by October 2024.
