Main responsibilities

To provide a range of high quality therapeutic treatment to parents and their babies (including psychodynamic parent-infant psychotherapy, trauma-focused interventions, family/systemic therapy).

To participate in teaching the local agencies about perinatal parent infant mental health.

 

Further clinical experience

The post holder will have experience of therapeutic work with adults with serious mental health difficulties (including complex childhood trauma).  The post-holder will also have clinical experience working therapeutically with parents and babies, preferably within a community perinatal service.

The post-holder will demonstrate advanced theoretical knowledge and practical knowledge in relation to infant development and the kind of difficulties that can emerge in parent-baby relationships when the parent is experiencing symptoms of high anxiety/low mood and disturbed defensive processes.

The post-holder will work closely with consultant perinatal psychiatrists and other perinatal parent-infant psychotherapists and perinatal practitioners in the service.
