Band: NHS AfC: Band 6

Location: Goodmayes Hospital

Closing Date: 15/08/2022

The Occupational Therapist (OT) role within CTT involves carrying out an holistic assessment of individual needs, followed by the formulation and implementation of person-centred interventions that is necessary to ensure a patient can remain safe at home,  reducing the risk of hospital admission, i.e, ordering equipment that is necessary to keep a patient safe at home allowing them to complete activities of daily living.

Due to the crisis nature of the service, the OT will be supported to extend their skills in order recognise a deteriorating patient. Close team work and inter-professionalism is considered paramount in order to manage complex patients at home.  A vast range of training opportunities are available and encouraged within the team.

The role will require the successful candidate to work as part of the team in the community and Emergency Department (ED), however, should you have a specific desire to work in one area, then we will endeavour to place you in your area of interest.

The candidate will assess patients determining their care needs in order to manage them through their crisis.

In all areas the candidate will need to work using current evidence-based therapy techniques, providing thorough and rapid assessments, facilitating a quick and effective discharge home or avoiding ED attendance. The candidate will also be expected to liaise with the MDT members and/or wider context.
